THE TORTÉL DÓLS HAVE ARRIVED

Popular history traces the birth to the time of the Duchess Maria Luigia of Austria, on special occasions the Duchess offered the boatmen of Sacca di Colorno a dish called “Tortél” for the particularity of the sweet and sour filling. Today's tradition has it that they are prepared in the winter period. The filling recipe varies from family to family, but the recurring ingredients are breadcrumbs, cooked must, Noble pear mustard, zucca bianca e cotogna.
